I give one star because you need to leave a star to be able to post a review. My family has resided 58 years in a rental property which chestnut holding acquired about 25-30years ago, they have allowed the conditions to be almost uninhabitable. We are treated as second class tenants due to the length of our residency and the rent control laws, This is completely unacceptable, the property is out side of NYC which makes it even harder to get things accomplished, a part time super who is goes out of his way to help, he even ... read more

I've been renting with Chestnut for over 5 years and unless there is something wrong with the lease info or banking information it is IMPOSSIBLE to get a hold of them. They are real uick to call you and even send someone to the door if they didn't get their rent -- but God forbid you have any of the following issues I'm dealing with and it's like trying to get a hold of the Pope. Here are my reasons for a 1 star review: - All of the reasons below aside -- what made me come here was the fact that all of their lines on their p... read more

I’m just tryna understand why yall charge Visa cardholders a $44 fee to pay their rent, regardless of it being Visa credit or debit. The rent itself ain’t enough? Also, why is the tenant responsible for maintaining co2 / smoke alarms when THE LAW quite literally states that responsibility falls solely on management companies?

Chestnut Holdings are very sneaky and have done wrong to their tenants in everyway. They are not here for the community like they want to make it seem with a nice video about their properties. I lived at one of there properties in the Bronx for 16 years. Chestnut holdings specifically hired employees just to search up their own tenants in other states to see if they had any other residence or address in other states and they would call them and scare them out their apartments, they did not care if there were a single Mother... read more

Chestnut Holdings is a landlord who mainly rents to low-income communities in the Bronx. My personal experience was frustrating and infuriating. Bruma Realty, being hand in hand with this landlord, brokered an apartment for me in the Tremont area. The building had no cameras, and the super, assuming he was very poorly treated, didn't clean the building. Packages disappeared, and the rat infestation was so terrible that neighbors were forced to leave the garbage on the street or face the cat-size rats in the narrow hallway to... read more
